Notes:
from “gauderio”, individual that is always travelling, with no defined direction, with no fix job, usually living from others help, going nowhere, usually a bad definition from the antique “gaucho”.
One of the most popular folk rhythm from Rio Grande do Sul, a little faster than Vanera. This one with origin in the Cuban rhythm Habanera, how was written initially. From Havanera to Vanera lot of changes happen from the writing to the timing, faster now than before. After more than 30 years the Brasilia folk musicians have been made lots of innovative experiences in this rhythm but always using the basic instruments for this performance: Accordion, guitar, drums and Pandeiro. Nowadays it’s a regular rhythm in South Brazilian Balls, and also with dash of choro and valsa.
Galpao: Definition of a very rustic warehouse in the farm, usually used to stock animals and utensils. I t was also used as a meeting point among the “Gaucho” after a day of hard working for chatting, playing guitar and drinking the typical hot tea from the region called Chimarrao.
